All the stoneware and porcelain pottery is thrown by hand on a potter's wheel by Dick. After more than 40 years experience, he still looks forward to spending many hours at the wheel each day. None of the pottery sold is ever cast into a mold, thus there are slight variances in the sizing of pieces. This adds to the charm of setting a table with tableware that is entirely made by hand and has a very limited production.
All glazes are fired to a very high temperature of 2400 degrees in a large walk-in gas kiln. The glaze colors take on an individual tone and texture due to many conditions effecting the firing, such as weather, humidity, and winds.
Each piece is completely functional, food safe, dishwasher safe, and LEAD FREE. All stoneware and porcelain items are safe to use in conventional ovens if placed in a cool oven and heated gradually. Porcelain items are microwave safe. It is not recommended that stoneware items be used in microwave ovens.
The garden pieces are all ready to use and enjoy. Remember, if you are in a zone that freezes in winter, to remove the water which will expand when frozen and could crack the pot.
